Rauw Alejandro

Despacito is a 2017 song released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most popular streamed song worldwide within just 6 months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music did not just draw an interest to the genre, but as well to Latin music generally. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to two in the year 2015. In the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, 19 tracks primarily composed in Spanish reached into the Top 100. It climbed to 41 by 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 shortly after which popular artists began working with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018), while Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, some Reggaeton artists were complaining about the advancing of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, as well as other styles was a common procedure.
